Demolition of the Arena footings has reached the East and West buttresses and is nearing half completion. This work will continue to generate disruptive noise and vibration.
Nighttime work and nighttime hauling continues. The map below details the truck routes, staffing placement and pedestrian access.
The current schedule for the start of truck movement is as follows:
Friday, October 11th – 11:30 pm start – 5:00 am end
Saturday, October 12th – NO HAULING
Sunday, October 13th – NO HAULING
Monday, October 14th – 9 pm start
Tuesday, October 15th – 11 pm start
Wednesday, October 16th – 9 pm start
Thursday, October 17th – 11:30 pm start
Friday, October 18th – 11:30 pm start
Saturday, October 19th – NO HAULING
Hauling on 1st Ave N will be during the hours of 7 pm – 11 pm and 5 am – 7 am
The Arena MPPCNV is activated.
Although construction is allowed 24/7, impact work hours are limited to daytime work only.
Construction Impact Work Hours:
Monday- Friday 8 am – 5 pm impact work
9 am – 5 pm impact work
Arena Interior – Installation of the temporary roof support (TRS) and demolition of the roof footings continues. Hauling operations for this work takes place overnight.
North Side – Demolition of the roof footings is complete. Mass excavation and lagging work continues during daytime hours only and includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm.
South Side – Drilled piling, tie back, lagging and excavation will continue for the next several months. This work is being done during daytime hours only and includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm.
West Side – Drilled piling and excavation continues. This work includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm. Because demolition of the Arena footings has progressed to the West Side, noise and vibration will increase in this area.
East Side – Construction work including mass excavation, lagging and tie back operations will continue for the next several months. This work is being done during daytime hours only and includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm.
South Parcel (surface lot south of Pottery Northwest) – Above grade piping installation for dewatering continues. Dewatering work will require intermittent closure of Thomas St. between 1st Ave N and Warren Ave N. The sidewalk will require a pedestrian detour while this work is underway. Proper staffing and safety measures will be in place.
1st Ave N. – Bike lane modification is projected to be done the week of Oct. 21st. This will require a single day closure of the west lane of 1st Ave N between John St. and Thomas St. This work is weather dependent and pending permit issuance.
Bi-Weekly Arena Meeting – Open to all, the bi-weekly Arena meetings are to provide project updates and coordinate with stakeholders including but not limited to local businesses, communities, SDOT, SDCI and Seattle Center resident organizations on construction impacts and efforts to support ongoing activities at Seattle Center and in the adjacent communities.
