Demolition of the Arena footings is underway and will continue to generate
disruptive noise and vibration.
Nighttime work has started. Nighttime hauling will start on Monday, September 23rd. The map below details the truck route, staffing placement and pedestrian access.
Truck movement will begin at 9 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and at 11:30 pm Thursday through Saturday. There will be no overnight hauling on Sunday, September 22nd.
The start of nighttime work has activated the MPPCNV.
Although construction is allowed 24/7, impact work hours are limited to daytime work only.
Construction Impact Work Hours:
Monday- Friday: 8 am – 5 pm impact work
Saturday/Sunday/Holidays: 9 am – 5 pm impact work
Arena Interior – Installation of the temporary roof support (TRS) and demolition of the roof footings continues. Hauling operations for this work will continue until 10 pm through Sunday, and overnight hauling starts on Monday, Sept. 23rd.
North Side –Installation of the temporary roof support and demolition of the roof footings continues. This includes excavation and lagging work that is being done during daytime hours only and includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm.
South Side – Drilled piling, tie back, lagging and excavation will continue for the next several months. This will include pile drilling for the temporary roof support and the north opening of the tunnel. This work is being done during daytime hours only and includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm.
West Side – Drilled piling and excavation continues, including south of KEXP. This work includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm.
East Side – Construction work including lagging, tie back operations and drilling will continue for the next several months. This work is being done during daytime hours only and includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm.
South Parcel (surface lot south of Pottery Northwest) – South Parcel (surface lot south of Pottery Northwest) – Installation of dewatering equipment in the alley between the 1st Ave N Garage and Bressi Garage continues. Above grade piping installation will begin September 24thwith no impact to access of the Bressi building. Installation will continue clockwise around the building with a 7-day duration to reach the Thomas St side of the building.
Tunnel work is pending permit issuance and is projected to start the week of September 23rd.
Dewatering work continues and will require closure of Thomas St. between 1st Ave and Warren Ave N September 23rd – September 27th. The sidewalk will remain open for pedestrians and proper staffing and safety measures will be in place. During the week of September 23rd, there will be a two-day period when there is no access to the Pottery Northwest main entrance while below grade piping is installed. Access will be available through the alley and roll door off Thomas St.
Bi-Weekly Arena Meeting – Open to all, the bi-weekly Arena meetings are to provide project updates and coordinate with stakeholders including but not limited to local businesses, communities, SDOT, SDCI and Seattle Center resident organizations on construction impacts and efforts to support ongoing activities at Seattle Center and in the adjacent communities.
