Current construction work is primarily demolition of the arena interior and drilled piling. Although interior demolition is almost complete, the next steps will be detachment of the Arena footings. This work is projected to start the week of Aug. 26th and will continue to generate disruptive noise and vibration during demolition.
The Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI) has granted a 2-week extension of the Temporary Noise Variance (TNV) for work within the project. The TNV permits non-impact construction activity (i.e. materials delivery) to begin at 5:00 am, and impact work to begin at 8 am and extend to 8:00 pm, three hours beyond the original end time of 5:00 pm. The TNV has been extended through Wednesday, September 4th.

Monday- Friday 5 am – 8 am non-impact work
8 am – 8 pm impact work
8 pm – 10 pm non-impact work
9 am – 8 pm impact work
8 pm – 10 pm non-impact work
Arena Interior – Interior installation of the temporary roof support (TRS) continues. Demolition of the south arena structure is underway and projected to be finished by the end of this week. Demolition of the roof footings will follow and is projected to start the week of Aug. 26th. Hauling operations for this work will continue until 10 pm, Monday-Saturday.
North Side – Installation of temporary roof support continues. This includes excavation and lagging work that is being done during daytime hours only and includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm. Once TRS is in place, demolition of the roof footings will begin at the north buttress. This is projected to start the week of Aug. 26th.
South Side – Drilled piling will continue through the month of August. This work is being done during daytime hours only and includes Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 5 pm.
West Side – Drilled piling continues on the west side of the arena and is moving south. This work includes Saturdays and Sunday from 9 am – 5 pm.
East Side – Lagging operations and temporary dewatering well drilling continues. This work is being done during daytime hours only and includes Saturdays from 9 am – 5 pm.
South Parcel (surface lot south of Pottery Northwest) – Construction activities for tunnel work on the South Parcel continue. Drilled piling work started this week and will continue for several weeks. This is in preparation for the horizontal tunnel operation.
Bi-Weekly Arena Meeting – Open to all, the bi-weekly Arena meetings are to provide project updates and coordinate with stakeholders including but not limited to local businesses, communities, SDOT, SDCI and Seattle Center resident organizations on construction impacts and efforts to support ongoing activities at Seattle Center and in the adjacent communities.
