Seattle and private developer outline $660 million plan to redevelop KeyArena

The plan to upgrade Seattle’s KeyArena is moving forward with Mayor Ed Murray and a private development company, Los Angele-based Oak View Group, releasing details of the deal that could bring men’s professional basketball and big-league hockey to Seattle. What initially was a $564 million plan to dramatically increase the size of the city-owned arena is now a $660 million proposal, which the City Council still has to approve. Oak View Group will privately finance the project, with construction set to begin next year and the remodeled arena opening in 2020
